The international break offers us the chance to take a look at the players our clubs have been linked with.

Here, Liverpool blogger Kieran Beckles tells us what the players Liverpool are looking at have on their plate over the next five days.

Jorginho (Italy)

With Emre Can’s future still unresolved at Anfield, Liverpool have naturally been linked with a number of midfielders ahead of the summer transfer window. Jorginho is thought to be at the top of their wish list. The Brazilian born Italy international has been instrumental in Napoli’s title challenge this season.

The 26-year-old has scored two goals and has made four assists in 26 games this term. Jorginho is a defensive midfield specialist, something which Liverpool lack under Jurgen Klopp. His addition would bring a greater balance between attack and defence. Napoli are thought to value Jorginho at around £35m.

Golden gloves: Arsenal target Jan Oblak is also being chased by Jurgen Klopp

Jan Oblak (Slovenia)

Loris Karius has excelled in the Liverpool goal in recent months. But the German shot stopper’s recent performances won’t dispel the sense that the former Manchester City starlet is error prone. Liverpool signed Virgil van Dijk in a world record fee for a defender in January. Given their willingness to invest £75m in a centre-half, it would be foolish to neglect the position behind Van Dijk.

Slovania international Oblak has followed in the footsteps of Thibaut Courtois and David De Gea by becoming a top goalkeeper at Atletico. The 25-year-old has admitted that he isn’t sure whether he will be at Atletico next season. Liverpool supporters will be hoping Croatia’s Dejan Lovren and Estonia’s Ragnar Klavan can convince Oblak that a move to Anfield would be a good next step.

Thomas Lemar (France)

Thomas Lemar is a name that should be familiar with most Liverpool supporters. The France international has been liked with a move to Anfield on a regular basis over the past year. Lemar turned down a move to Arsenal last summer with reports suggesting his preferred destination was Liverpool.

Philipp Coutinho’s £142m move to Barcelona in January fuelled a fresh wave of speculation that Lemar could be Merseyside-bound. However, Lemar remains at AS Monaco – for now. The 22-year-old has scored two goals and has made seven assists in 22 appearances in the Ligue 1 this term.

Stefan de Vrij (Netherlands)

While Klopp has addressed one of his centre-half positions, question marks remain over his other options. Lovren, Klavan and Joel Matip haven’t convinced alongside Van Dijk. The Netherlands international has already proven himself as a classy and commanding operator at the back.

However, if Liverpool are going to challenge for the title next season, Klopp may need another top centre-half. Van Dijk’s compatriot Stefan de Vrij is a player who has been touted as a potential signing. The Dutch defender’s current Lazio deal is set to expire in the summer. The perks to a free transfer to Anfield are obvious given his relationship with Van Dijk at international level.

Alisson (Brazil)

Alisson is another Serie A star that has been linked with a summer move to Liverpool. The Brazil international is rated as one of Europe’s top goalkeepers following an impressive one and a half seasons at Roma. Wojciech Szczesny’s move to Juventus has allowed Alisson to flourish.

However, the Italian club are thought to be keen to add an £80m contract release clause to the shot stopper’s current deal. This could price Liverpool out of a potential deal amid interest from Real Madrid.
