Liverpool and Chelsea might have a rivalry and Frank Lampard, a Blues legend who also managed Everton, might not be the most well-loved on the Red half of Merseyside, but the ex-England midfielder has had some nice words to say about Mohamed Salah.

Salah arrived at Chelsea in the same summer that Lampard departed to sign for Manchester City so they never played for the Stamford Bridge outfit together. But even so, Lampard has recognized the levels that the Liverpool number 11 has reached since returning to England after a spell with AS Roma in Serie A.

In a video for ESPN's TikTok channel, Lampard was asked to blind-rank five Premier League wingers. Michael Olise, Phil Foden, Bukayo Saka and Cole Palmer had all come up by the time Salah did and only the fifth spot was left for the Egyptian.

"Mohamed Salah should be number one for what he’s achieved over the past few years," Lampard quickly made clear. "Mohamed Salah should be one. This is on camera: Mo Salah should be one for what he has achieved over the past seven years."

Salah only played 13 times for Chelsea and, like Kevin De Bruyne, was never given a proper chance to show his true quality. But he exploded with Roma in Italy and has since scored 155 goals so far for Liverpool.

His contract at Anfield only has one season left to run, though, and a big decision about his future is coming up shortly. Salah should be tied down to an extension, ideally, but his last contract renewal made him the best-paid player in Liverpool's history and so keeping him for even longer into his 30s will not be cheap.

Liverpool.com says: Salah is arguably the best winger that the Premier League has ever had. He has scored consistently high volumes of goals, has barely been injured, and has now been at the top of his game for seven seasons at Liverpool.

Cristiano Ronaldo was great for Manchester United but he wasn't there as long and was at his peak with Real Madrid. Ryan Giggs won many more league titles but that isn't the defining factor in determining the level of an individual and they are two very different players. Salah is right up there in the conversation with the very best.
