Frankie de Jong could be on his way to Paris Saint-Germain.

Manchester City may miss out on Ajax’s Frenkie de Jong with reports that he has chosen to join Paris Saint-Germain next summer.

The Sun claims that the 21-year-old midfielder will turn down the chance to sign for Pep Guardiola’s side in favour of a £67 million move to the French champions.

That is the asking price set by Ajax director of football, former Arsenal and Barcelona winger Marc Overmars.

De Jong is interested in lining up alongside Neymar and Kylian Mbappe in preference to moving to Manchester.

Mbappe has been keen on the club bringing De Jong to France to take up the playmaker role.

Ajax are also facing the prospect of losing another talented young player. Matthijs de Ligt has been on the radar of top Premier League sides including Liverpool, and the 19 year old could reject the chance to stay in the Netherlands beyond the summer.
