Frustrated England fans have been left with their head in their hands after a "lacklustre" performance from the Three Lions against Slovenia.

Fans across the North East got into the Euros footy fever on Tuesday evening as the squad made a bid to top Group C - having already booked a place in the knockout rounds.

Gareth Southgate's team has faced criticism after lacklustre games against Serbia and Denmark - so fans were hoping to see some more goal-scoring action against Slovenia.

Fans tonight (June 25) were spotted enjoying pints at the likes of Darlington Indoor Market, The Woollen Mill, at Feethams, and at popular fan zone Central Park in Newcastle.

But many looked less than impressed, with pictures showing pint-lovers with their head in their hands - and even one holding two fingers up to the screen.

One person said on X, formerly Twitter: "It's not coming home at this rate. England is lacklustre."

Another said: "Has to be one of the most lacklustre England displays I've seen in a long time, with some of the best players we've had in decades."

The performance was made even more bitter by the fact that Bukayo Saka's goal in the 20th minute of the Slovenia clash was ruled as offside.

This meant the game remained 0-0 as the players went off for half time.

The Newcastle fan zone is always a popular haunt on Tyneside - so much so that events company Central Park also recently launched a new space Keel Edge, near the City Hall, in Sunderland.
