It’s Frustrating To Be Sitting Out An Important Series Against India, Asserts Jofra Archer

England pacer Jofra Archer expressed his emotions of missing the entire 2021 season but he is optimistic about playing Test cricket in future.

Early in August, the Barbados-born cricketer was ruled out of all cricket for the rest of the year following a recurrence of a stress fracture in his right elbow.

It means apart from missing the ongoing Test series between England and India, Archer won’t be able to participate in the ICC T20 World Cup 2021 and the Ashes as well.

I’m still only 26 and I think my best years as a Test cricket are ahead of me: Jofra Archer

Archer, who bowled the super over for England in the 2019 World Cup final match, said it is frustrating for him to not participate in important competitions like the Test series against India. Archer made his Test debut for England against Australia at Lord’s in 2019 and the bowler is of the belief that he has more to offer for Test cricket.

“I’ve said many times before that Test cricket is the most important format to me and nothing has changed in that respect. It’s frustrating to be sitting out an important series against India, as well as not being to make the trip to Australia this winter — not to mention the Twenty20 World Cup in the UAE.

“If I do end up with another stress fracture, I may have a different view on things as regards to my future. But for the moment, I’m still only 26 and I think my best years as a Test cricketer are ahead of me,” Archer wrote in his Daily Mail column.

“When I got the news that I’d be out for the rest of 2021 because I had suffered another stress fracture in my elbow, it was pretty tough to take. But I’ve always been of the view that everything happens for a reason, and the injury doesn’t change the way I look at my career,” he added.

Jofra Archer, who hails from West Indies, was eligible to play for England in 2019 after spending three years in the country and has picked 86 international wickets across all formats.
