Fulham 2-2 Liverpool LIVE! Salah goal - Premier League result, match stream and latest updates today

Fulham vs Liverpool - LIVE!

It is a baptism of fire for Fulham upon their return to the Premier League as they face, arguably, their toughest home test of the season with the visit of Jurgen Klopp’s side. Marco Silva took Fulham back up into the top flight in style but has repeatedly stressed during pre-season his concerns over the strength of the playing squad.

Silva’s concerns will become clear this afternoon when Liverpool come to town, looking to start their latest title tilt with little fuss before champions Manchester City get up and running tomorrow. New signings Darwin Nunez and Fabio Carvalho start on the bench for the Reds.

Fulham will be aware that Liverpool showed little signs of rustiness in a deserved win over City in the Community Shield last week but have previously sprung surprises on the opening day, so this match looks set to be an intriguing one. Follow the game LIVE with Standard Sport below, with Malik Ouzia at Craven Cottage!

Fulham vs Liverpool highlights

Full-time!

14:24 , Alex Young

96min: Great entertainment in west London as a Mitrovic double sees Fulham earn a deserved point.

Nunez was fantastic on his debut but a frustrating day for Klopp & Co. Man City will already be licking their lips.

OFF THE BAR!

14:23 , Alex Young

94min: Henderson cracks the bar from distance. What would have been something else.

14:19 , Alex Young

89min: FIVE minutes added on.

14:15 , Alex Young

85min: Darwin Nunez is some player. Has changed the game. A goal and an assist, so far, on his debut.

GOAL!

14:10 , Alex Young

81min: Salah didn't know much about that but he won't care!

He tucks home Nunez's smart cut back inside the area.

14:06 , Alex Young

77min: Carvalho is on for his Liverpool debut, against his former club. Diaz makes way.

GOAL!

14:02 , Alex Young

73min: Mitrovic makes no mistake from the spot!

Klopp just stares at his feet.

PENALTY!

13:59 , Alex Young

71min: Mitrovic twists into the area and is tripped by Van Dijk! Sloppy from the defender.

OFF THE LINE!

13:56 , Alex Young

68min: Almost a second for Nunez as he bundles into the area but Fulham clear.

GOAL!

13:53 , Alex Young

64min: A debut goal for Nunez and this time the flick worked! Just 13 minutes into his Premier League career.

A fine assist from Salah.

13:50 , Alex Young

62min: Chance! Nunez latches onto Salah’s drilled cross into the area but opts to flick the ball with his back heel rather than just hammer it home.

13:49 , Alex Young

61min: Great chance for Liverpool as Salah works the ball out wide and waits for Nunez to return the favour into the area, but he opts for Diaz and the pass is cut out.

13:48 , Alex Young

60min: A third change for Liverpool as Milner replaces Fabinho as Klopp gives Alexander-Arnold plenty of instructions on the touchline.

POST!

13:46 , Alex Young

58min: Fulham aren't sitting back here! Kebano denied by the foot of the far post.

Klopp is fuming.

13:45 , Alex Young

56min: A real chance for Fulham to extend their lead! A break across the halfway leaves Liverpool flat-footed and Reid plays in Pereira running diagonally across goal, but the summer signing’s opts for the pass back across Alisson rather than a shot and the keeper can gobble it up.

13:42 , Alex Young

53min: Nunez looks to get involved straight away as the ball bounced around the Fulham area, but the offside flag is soon raised.

13:40 , Alex Young

51min: Double change for Liverpool as Thiago and Firmino are replaced by Elliott and Nunez, the latter for his debut.

Thiago looked to have picked up an injury.

Malik Ouzia at Craven Cottage

13:38 , Alex Young

“I wondered if we might see Darwin Nunez at the break but Jurgen Klopp has held off - until now. He and Harvey Elliott are imminent.”

13:36 , Alex Young

47min: Bit of a frantic start from both teams as they try to get settled in the second half. A few rash touches and passes.

13:34 , Alex Young

That’s a joke. Kinda.

Second half

13:33 , Alex Young

We're back up and running for the second half. No changes.

Fulham are 45 minutes away from ending Liverpool's title challenge.

13:31 , Alex Young

Teams are back out for the second half. Back underway shortly.

13:25 , Alex Young

Not a great start.

13:22 , Alex Young

A surprise scoreline at the break, but a fully deserved one. Liverpool started slowly and Fulham stopped them from improving.

Superb from the hosts so far.

Half-time

13:18 , Alex Young

47min: That’s your lot. Klopp needs to have a word.

13:16 , Alex Young

45min: Two minutes added on.

13:13 , Alex Young

42min: Alexander-Arnold handles the ball while attempting to control it and is penalised. He boots the ball away in frustration, but doesn’t get a yellow card.

POST!

13:11 , Alex Young

39min: Diaz works some space inside the area, when there really didn’t look like any, to fire off a shot but he is denied by the woodwork.

Some strike, that.

13:08 , Alex Young

37min: Liverpool try to hit back straight away as Robertson drives down the left and drills in a low cross, which Diaz is inches away from.

GOAL!

13:05 , Alex Young

34min: Well, well, well! Mitrovic bullies Alexander-Arnold at the back post to beat Alisson with a fine header.

But what about that cross from Tete. My word!

13:02 , Alex Young

32min: I tell you what, Fulham look alright!

Pereira and Kebano combine and drive into the area, before the latter flings in a cracking cross for Mitrovic but the striker can’t get on the end of it.

13:00 , Alex Young

30min: A whipped effort from the corner is heading straight for Mitrovic at the near post, but the angle is too tight and it fizzes out of play.

Malik Ouzia at Craven Cottage

12:59 , Alex Young

“Andrew Madley is having to hold a bit of a press conference with four or five Fulham players in the middle of the park. He’s got a few wrong in the last ten minutes or so and pretty much all to the detriment of the home side.”

12:57 , Alex Young

26min: Diaz is getting all sorts of attention today, being properly roughed up by Fulham.

12:54 , Alex Young

22min: Good from Liverpool. Alexander-Arnold combining with Robertson before whipping in a great cross which Robinson does brilliantly to head away with Salah waiting to pounce.

12:50 , Alex Young

19min: Liverpool now in control, with Fulham the team chasing shadows.

12:47 , Alex Young

17min: Woof. Tete is into the book for a quite ridiculous tackle from behind on Diaz.

NO GOAL!

12:46 , Alex Young

15min: Dias thinks he was opened the scoring with a terrific curling effort from 18 yards, but Robertson was offside in the build-up.

12:45 , Alex Young

13min: Better from Liverpool, who are actually stringing some passes together for the first time in the game. Has Fulham’s early good spell ended?

12:43 , Alex Young

10min: Liverpool not getting a yard from Fulham, who are firmly in control without overly troubling their visitors.

Klopp stands on the touchline with his mouth agape. You and me, both, Jurgen.

12:38 , Alex Young

7min: Thiago goes searching for Salah down the right but the ball is way to long. The Egyptian gives a thumbs up to his team-mate but Liverpool not doing too much at the moment.

Malik Ouzia at Craven Cottage

12:34 , Alex Young

“I’m not sure Mitrovic could quite believe the way that chance just opened up for him as Alexander-Arnold was dragged wide by the overlap. He didn’t go at it with any conviction.”

12:34 , Alex Young

3min: A few good signs from Fulham early doors. Pereira whips a brilliant ball across the face of goal but there’s no Fulham player able to latch onto it before the offside flag is raised.

12:32 , Alex Young

1min: First, early, sight of goal for Mitrovic, but he drags his shot from just inside the area wide.

More of that, please.

Kick-off

Here we go!

Malik Ouzia reports

12:29 , Alex Young

“A bit of Mitro’s on fire over the PA as we await the teams here at sunny Craven Cottage.

“If Fulham are to have any chance of staying in the division you suspect the big Serbian will have to at least replicate his first Premier League campaign at with the west Londoners, when he reached double figures. He’ll probably have to best it, in fact.”

12:27 , Alex Young

Here come the teams.

Malik Ouzia checks in

12:19 , Alex Young

He’s already doubting his pre-season predictions, one game in.

Klopp to BT Sport

12:12 , Alex Young

”We have to be ready. We feel ready, the pre-season was really good. But we have had too many injuries. We need to boys coming back sooner rather than later.

“Darwin needs time to settle and we need to mix it up a bit. Bobby is a baller. The other two boys have speed. It’s about mixing it up - we thought it would be better to start with Bobby today.

“It’s all fine. I am really happy - it’s really cool. “We have to be ready. We feel ready, the pre-season was really good. But we have had too many injuries. We need the boys coming back sooner rather than later.”

Aging Reds

One famous former Liverpool player once said ‘you won’t win anything with kids’, and it appears Jurgen Klopp is in agreement.

Some stat, this.

Debuts

11:46 , Alex Young

So, Fulham hand debuts to Andreas Pereira and Joao Palhinha but goalkeeper Bernd Leno is on the bench. Aleksandar Mitrovic, who scored 43 league goals last season, leads the line.

For Liverpool, Darwin Nunez will have to wait a little longer to make his debut as he starts on the bench alongside fellow summer recruit Fabio Carvalho.

There's a few names which may not be too familiar on the Reds bench. Sepp van den Berg, a 20-year-old defender, left-back Luke Chambers, 18, and 17-year-old Stefan Bajcetic.

Liverpool XI

Nunez and Carvalho on the bench.

Fulham XI

Here’s how the hosts look.

11:28 , Alex Young

Team news is imminent. Will Darwin Nunez start?

Salah raring to go

11:13 , Alex Young

It sounds like Mo Salah is fit and firing ahead of the today, which is good news for no one except Liverpool.

Salah scored 31 goals last season and during the off-season signed a new contract with the club.

Jurgen Klopp told reporters this week: "He is in really good shape and of course he is happy to be here.

"As clear as it was for him, and I said we would get the deal over the line, it was still an open thing and everyone talks about it. We are humans, but I didn't see it distracting him a lot to be honest.

"After a few weeks of holiday, Mo is always full of power and energy and he came back in a good shape," said the German. "He looked really sharp in the whole pre-season. Long may it continue."

So, Premier League football is, once again, back at Craven Cottage. Marco Silva guided Fulham to a very impressive promotion last season but if any team knows how different a ball game it is in the top flight then, well, it’s Fulham.

A daunting first game back awaits.

Score prediction

10:45 , Alex Young

Expecting Fulham to be a walk in the park might sound a little too obvious and, frankly, Silva’s side looked a much better team in the Championship last season than some of those in the top flight.

Still, Liverpool will surely have too much.

Liverpool to win 3-0.

Liverpool team news

10:32 , Alex Young

For Liverpool, meanwhile, Diogo Jota, Ibrahima Konate, Caoimhin Kelleher, Calvin Ramsay, Kostas Tskimikas and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain will all miss their League opener.

Darwin Nunez, however, will make his Premier League debut, while Alisson Becker returns. Naby Keita will soon return to training but will not quite make the season opener in south west London.
