Gameweek 22 recap: Yahoo's team results

Gameweek 22 was another average one for Yahoo UK’s three teams entered. We had one for Saturday, one for Sunday and another which was over both days.

Saturday saw us pick up 72.2 points for a 29th place finish, while Sunday saw us score more points – 86.9 but only finish 48th.

We fared better on the weekend’s combined league, scoring 101.55 points to finish 13th.

This was our team for the full weekend’s league: (total score 101.55)

We only had two Dreamteamers – Alexis Sanchez and Dejan Lovren – but consistent scores from the midfield and in goal ensured we broke the 100 point barrier. Young Trent Alexander-Arnold didn’t take the field for Liverpool, but at £10 and with limited options we decided to take the hit.

Our four midfielders contributed almost 44 points, but Romelu Lukaku and Pedro combined to score 5.65 – at a combined cost of £43, almost a quarter of our budget! At least we hadn’t included Eden Hazard as well…

Another round of consistent scorers, but we desperately needed one or two of our big name players to score big.

Only Ander Herrera made it into double figures, despite 7 other players scoring more than 5 points. Our defenders were solid, all scoring between 5.4 and 6.35 despite us not spending big there and despite solid returns from Herrera, Tom Davies and Matt Phillips in midfield our expensive players fell flat.

We spent more than a third of our budget on Christian Eriksen, Harry Kane and Romelu Lukaku, for a measly return of 10.4 points.

Sunday’s team: (total score 86.90)

Unlike Saturday’s returns, which were solid but unspectacular, Sunday’s were of the rocks-and-diamond variety.

Great returns from Chelsea duo Thibault Courtois and Gary Cahill, Alexis Sanchez and Burnley’s Andre Gray were offset by our first ever negative points score – and it happened twice. Granit Xhaka’s red card, Curtis Davies’ poor performance and Robert Snodgrass’s injury all meant those three players actually cost us 0.75 points. Combine that with the £44 we spent on Eden Hazard and Pedro, five players contributed 5.05 points but cost us almost half our budget (£92).
