Chelsea's pursuit of Michael Olise will continue this week as the Blues look to wrap up a big-money deal to sign the winger.

The 22-year-old is the subject of plenty of interest from across Europe after an impressive season with Crystal Palace, where he registered 16 direct goal contributions in 19 Premier League matches. Olise has a clause in his contract at Selhurst Park believed to be in the region of £60million.

It has gone full circle for Olise, who left Chelsea at the age of 14 to join Manchester City. The decision, football.london understands, was a mutual one, and eight years on, he is once again wanted by the Blues.

It is not only Chelsea that hold an interest in Olise, though, with Newcastle United, Bayern Munich and Manchester United also understood to be keen in the winger. Gareth Southgate, too, wants Olise to represent England instead of France but it seems as if the Palace attacker will play for Les Bleus at the Olympic Games next month.

Born in London to a Nigerian father and a French-Algerian mother, Olise is eligible to represent any four of those nations. He has been capped by France at Under-18s and Under-21s level but was left out of Didier Deschamps' squad for the Euro 2024 campaign.

"He would have to have a transfer of association," Southgate said on Olise ahead of Euros. "The process would take quite a while.

"He is obviously a very good player, he has not made their [France's] squad. They might be taking him to the Olympics, I do not know. He is a player we should have an interest in because he is a very good player but there is no way you could do all of that in time for the Euros."

Southgate's England side won their opening match of the Euros on Sunday evening. A first-half header from Jude Bellingham was enough for the Three Lions to edge past Serbia in Gelsenkirchen.

Cole Palmer, Chelsea's Player of the Season, did not get on the pitch. Instead, Jarrod Bowen replaced Bukayo Saka late on in the game, but Blues midfielder Conor Gallagher did come on in the second-half for England.

Next up for England is a match with Denmark on Thursday evening. Meanwhile, Olise will watch France later tonight as they kick off their Euros campaign with a match against Austria.
