Gleison Tibau Popped for Second Potential UFC Anti-Doping Violation
Already under a provisional suspension for a potential out-of-competition anti-doping violation, Gleison Tibau on Wednesday got more bad news. He is now also suspected of a potential in-competition anti-doping violation.
The potential in-competition violation stems from a test sample collected immediately following his Nov. 7 victory over Abel Trujillo at UFC Fight Night 77 in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
On Dec. 4, Tibau became the second fighter to be suspended for a potential Anti-Doping Policy violation under the UFC’s new policy that is being administered by the United States Anti-Doping Agency. The first UFC fighter suspended under the new policy was the recently retired Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic.

According to a statement released by the UFC on Wednesday:
The U.S. Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) has notified both Gleason Tibau and UFC of a potential Anti-Doping Policy violation stemming from an in-competition sample collected immediately after his bout in Sao Paulo, Brazil on November 7, 2015. Tibau and UFC were previously notified that he had been provisionally suspended due to a potential Anti-Doping Policy violation stemming from an out-of-competition test.
USADA, the independent administrator of the UFC Anti-Doping Policy, will handle the results management and appropriate adjudication of this case involving Tibau. Additional information will be provided at the appropriate time as the process moves forward.
