The first North Leitrim 5km run will be held at Glenfarne and will run down along the shores of MacNean Lough in just over a week on Saturday, May 4 and will continue every weekend after that.

Interest has picked up in general exercise over the last few years and locals in the Belcoo area will now have the opportunity to take part in a nearby parkrun.

The run will be set on the banks of Lough MacNean and welcomes all people to take part whether it be running or walking.

The location allows for natives of Fermanagh, Cavan and Leitrim to get involved.

Participants can register on the Parkrun Ireland site or they can download the app and register using Glenfarne Wood as their home run.

All entries into the run are free of charge.

The parkrun will begin at 9.30am and will continue at this time every week after.

With no nearby leisure centres or running parks in the area, the closest Parkrun being Enniskillen, it will give those interested from Belcoo and surrounding areas a chance to run in a group every weekend.

The Lakeland Forum also has a Parkrun route for any interested parties.
