Gossip: Three clubs 'battle for £200m' Liverpool star Mo Salah, Man United 'target' Arsenal pair

Mo Salah will be the hottest property in Europe this summer.

Mohamed Salah – he’s good isn’t he? But the trouble with the Liverpool forward is similar to the one you get with Crunchy Nut Cornflakes – he might be too good.

Too good to hang around in the rubbish old Premier League much longer anyway. It’s all been too easy for the Egyptian magician since he arrived in England in the summer. He’s scored 28 league goals and needs just four more to break the record for most strikes in a Premier League season. More than Shearer, Ronaldo, Suarez, Ricketts – the lot. And he’s not even a proper striker.

So having conquered this country’s football, the Sun reports that he is set to move to a different one. According to the tabloid, Salah is now worth £200m and is wanted by Real Madrid, Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain this summer.

It will all sound worryingly familiar to Reds fans who spent most of the past year watching helplessly as their former best player, Philippe Coutinho, was constantly linked with – and finally moved to – Barca for a similarly mind-boggling fee.

Europe’s “big three”, as the Sun calls them – rather generously to the French side, are apparently “convinced” that Liverpool would not be able to turn down an offer in excess of the £198m PSG paid for Neymar.

Real would reportedly drop their interest in Chelsea’s Eden Hazard if they can lure Salah to the Bernabeu, while Barca have “made noises” about signing the Egyptian – allegedly the exact same kind of noises that Ernesto Valverde makes when he eats Crunchy Nut Cornflakes.

United target Gunners duo

Anyway, the Gossip column owes you an apology, because we’re 277 words in and we still haven’t mentioned Manchester United. But the wait ends here.

The Red Devils – who you may recall recently signed Alexis Sanchez from Arsenal – are today being linked with moves for two more Gunners players.

The first is Aaron Ramsey, who the Star says has been the subject of some admiring glances from Jose Mourinho. In fact, making admiring glances at Rambo has been one of Jose’s few pleasures in recent weeks.

Aaron Ramsey is closing on the final year of his Arsenal contract, but Arsene Wenger is not unduly concerned.

The (manager formerly known as the) Special One is said to be a “big fan” of the Welshman and believes his “all action, box-to-box style” could help lift his “struggling” side. Ramsey has one year left on his Emirates contract and is “contemplating” leaving.

United are also keen on Gunners right-back Hector Bellerin, according to the Mirror, which claims Mourinho has made “discreet enquiries” about the possibility of signing the Spanish right-back in the summer. However, Italian champions Juventus “remain favourites” to get him.

Meanwhile, Chelsea are “heading the queue” of Premier League clubs who would happily take Mourinho’s mini nemesis Luke Shaw off his hands this summer. The Mail says the Blues are ready to rescue the left-back from his “Man Utd hell”, as are Manchester City, Arsenal, Everton and Tottenham.

Elsewhere, Spurs will make a £40m summer move to sign Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha (Mail), Arsenal have identified £25m-rated Bayer Leverkusen goalkeeper Bernd Leno as the successor to Petr Cech (Sun) and Lionel Messi has revealed he no longer vomits during matches thanks to cutting chocolates and fizzy drinks from his diet (Goal). It’s a shame – he could have been some player if he ate right.
