Gossip: Chelsea make £100m Lewandowski 'No 1 target', Man Utd 'target unhappy Willian', Tottenham 'chase Martial'

As Roman Abramovich waits impatiently for UK immigration authorities to renew his visa amid potential concerns over how he acquired his outrageous wealth, one man who knows how he feels is Robert Lewandowski.

The Bayern Munich striker was also once prevented from entering England – back in 2010 when Iceland’s Eyjafjallajökull volcano caused his flight to be cancelled and scuppered his plans to meet Sam Allardyce and sign for Blackburn Rovers.

So Lewandowski could reassure the irked oligarch that for men as powerful and talented as them, these things normally work out for the best. To which Abramovich would shrug, open a glowing suitcase crammed with oligarch cash and opportunistically reply in his trademark deadpan style: “You come to Chelsea yes?”

The Telegraph reports that the exiled Blues owner has made Lewandowski his “No 1 target” and is ready to pay “in excess of £100m” to bring the Polish goal machine to Stamford Bridge.

The Blues believe Lewy is “ready to move” after four prolific seasons at Bayern. They may not be able to offer him Champions League football, but at least they’re not Blackburn.

As for this row with UK immigration, it will surely be cleared up soon enough because it’s not like Russian oligarchs have never been involved in anything dodgy (and if Abramovich wants to splurge more than £100m on a player who will be 30 in August, that’s his business).

Jokanovic could replace Conte

It’s also his business if he wants to sack his trophy-winning manager Antonio Conte and replace him with the Fulham boss Slavisa Jokanovic, which is exactly what he is planning according to the Express.

The 49-year-old Serbian has apparently emerged as a “shock candidate” to take over at the Bridge after “impressing” the Chelsea hierarchy with his side’s free-flowing football. It’s not like that kind of thing has ever bothered Abramovich before.

Also leaving the Blues could be Willian, who Sky Sports says “wants out” of the club – a fact he subtly conveyed by using emojis to block out his manager’s face from an FA Cup final team photo earlier this week.

Long-time admirers Manchester United are ready to swoop for the Brazilian, and they could make way for him in their squad by selling Anthony Martial.

The Standard says Tottenham are stepping up their pursuit of the Frenchman and want him to “support Harry Kane” up front. Well he can’t be any worse at it than Vincent Janssen or Fernando Llorente.

Meanwhile, despite his recent protestations to the contrary, Neymar is reportedly “desperate” to force a move to Real Madrid after just one year at Paris Saint-Germain. However, Goal says the French champions are “ready for a fight” to keep the Brazilian at the Parc des Princes. And fighting Neymar should be easy – you just tread on his foot.

Elsewhere, Man Utd are set to “pull the plug” on a £53m deal to sign Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Fred after he “dragged his heels” over a move to Old Trafford (Metro), Barcelona are plotting a summer swoop for Tottenham’s 17-year-old “wonderkid” Reo Griffiths (Star) and John Terry could quit Aston Villa after the Championship play-off final and move to the Chinese Super League (Mirror). The veteran defender is a keen student of ancient Chinese culture and the £500,000-a-week wage on offer has not factored into his thinking at all.
