Greg Van Avermaet took his first win of the year after the CCC rider outsprinted Diego Ulissi to the line at the end of Grand Prix Cycliste de Montréal in Canada on Sunday.

Olympic champion Van Avermaet completed the 219.6-kilometre race in 6hrs 9min 38sec.

The WorldTour resumes with the penultimate race of the season, the one-day Il Lombardia in northern Italy on October 12.
