Haines delighted with a second century as he keeps Sussex in the contest
Tom Haines is delighted with his start to the season after making it two centuries in as many innings.
The Sussex opener top-scored with 108 as his side reached 282 for six in reply to Leicestershire’s 338 all out.
It came after Fynn Hudson-Prentice had taken a career best five for 50 as their Vitality County Championship match remained nicely balanced at the halfway stage.
Haines said: “I’ve made a good start to the season and it is very pleasing to have come here and made another hundred to put our side in a decent position.
“It was disappointing to get out in the way I did. I kind of saw the bouncer coming but it was a bit wide so I didn’t quite execute it right.
“Last season was a bit frustrating but it is just the way it goes sometimes. I’ve worked hard over the winter and I’m going to really try to put in a good season this year.
“Losing a wicket in the last over was a bit disappointing because I think at five down, 50 behind we would have been in a strong position but we’ve still got good batting to come.
“Their bowlers tied it up nicely during the last session. Obviously the ball went soft and wasn’t doing a lot but they put fielders all around the bat and made it hard to score.
