England's Euro 2024 group opponents Serbia have threatened to pull out of the tournament over chants between fans at the match between Croatia and Albania on Wednesday.

During the 2-2 Group B draw, fans could be heard chanting about the killing of Serbians. The general secretary of the Football Association of Serbia, Jovan Surbatovic, has called for strong sanctions against both sets of fans.

"What happened is scandalous and we will ask [European governing body] Uefa for sanctions, even if it means not continuing in the competition," he told RTS.

"We are sure that they will be punished, because they have already responded to our appeal to remove the so-called journalist from Albania from the championship."

Serbia are currently in action against Slovenia in Munich in their second game of the group phase of the tournament. They are due to take on Denmark on Tuesday evening also.

However, should they decide to pull out of the competition as a result of their threat, then it would impact England. According to Uefa rules, if a national team decides to pull out, 'the results of all of its matches are declared null and void, and the points awarded forfeited'.

Serbia's potential withdrawal would create a disruption for Uefa as the group standings would need to be recalculated. Denmark, who Serbia face last, would be handed an automatic 3-0 win but this would leave an uneven number of teams in the competition meaning a new schedule may be required.

Teams in the group may be given extra rest time without the need to play an extra game but England won't have that rule applied to them as they have already faced Serbia.
