Liverpool goalkeeper Vitezslav Jaros has somewhat slipped off the radar at club level. Now he's away at Euro 2024 with Czechia, so we've taken a look at what's been happening with him over the past few years.

Still just 22, Jaros remains contracted to Liverpool, and the club continues to have high hopes for him — Arne Slot will need to make a decision in the immediate term, with Caoimhin Kelleher potentially leaving, creating a vacancy as Alisson's number two. But he's not been sighted with the squad for a while, having been sent out on various loans.

It's been an unusual trajectory for Jaros, who joined Liverpool from Slavia Prague in 2017. In 2021, he was sent out to St Patrick's Athletic in Ireland, where he ended up claiming the Player of the Season award.

As well as playing a key part in a runners-up league finish, Jaros featured as St Pats won the FAI Cup on penalties. He made a big save deep into added time against Bohemians.

His next loan saw him go to Notts County in the National League in the second half of the 2021/22 season. He immediately made the starting spot his own, but could not quite secure promotion, with his new side missing out via the playoffs.

Moving up the tiers of English football, Jaros then went to Stockport County in League Two. After starting well, he did eventually lose his starting spot there. But a highlight of his tenure was a 0-0 draw with Premier League outfit Leicester City in the EFL Cup, where he saved a spot kick from James Maddison.

Changing tack a little, Liverpool then sent Jaros to Austria, where he has spent the second half of last season at Sturm Graz — but not before signing a new contract at Anfield. That looks like an increasingly astute move, given how successful the loan was.

Jaros went straight into the side, and was between the sticks as Sturm Graz ended Red Bull Salzburg's decade-long hold on the Austrian top flight. He made it a double with a cup triumph over Rapid Wien.

Now away at the Euros with Czechia, Jaros did not start the opening game, with Jindrich Stanek of Slavia Prague preferred. But Liverpool might wonder if the in-form youngster should be handed an opportunity, with the starting goalkeeper at fault in the opening loss to Portugal.

Whether he plays or not, going to the tournament is another step in Jaros' promising development, having made his international debut earlier this month in a friendly against Malta. Slot should be eager to get him back at Liverpool to run the rule over him.
