A cycling event is set to take place at Harraby Cycle Circuit this weekend.

The event, named 'Show & Tell', follows success in Bitts Park in May and is due to kick off at 1pm this Sunday, July 7.

In collaboration with Carlisle Matters, Cumberland Council invites everyone to an afternoon of cycling-based fun, lasting until 4pm.

Local organisations, including Carlisle Junior Tri-Club, will attend the event, providing attendees the chance to try cycling on the circuit and learn more about triathlon.

Mechanics from Rebike Community Cycle Hub will also offer a free bike check and 'fix and go' workshops, making any necessary adjustments to participant's bikes.

Additionally, they'll be running 'First Wheels' lessons, teaching adults and children accompanied by adults how to ride.

Lance Greenghalgh, secretary at Rebike Community Cycle Hub, said: "Rebike's volunteer cycle mechanics are passionate about sharing their love of cycling and its many benefits for health and wellbeing.

"Rebike strive to help people of all ages and cycling abilities to get on a bike.

"Come and see us at the Show and Tell event, have your bike checked and fixed, learn the easiest and quickest ways to learn to ride a bike, look after your bike and where to ride your bike on the city cycle trails."

Scottish BMX School will be at the event, offering three one-hour BMX workshops and demonstrations.

School founder Reece Thompson boasts over 15 years of experience in flatland, the style of freestyle BMX performed without ramps or obstacles.

He said: "I am really excited to come down for this event and share our passion for flatland with the kids of Carlisle, we can guarantee every participant will learn at least one trick."

The event will also offer mini go-karting and a bouncy castle, promising fun for all the family.

Prospective participants are reminded to bring their bike and helmet along to the Show & Tell event at Harraby Cycle Circuit this Sunday.
