Hearts announce Daniel Oyegoke transfer as Jambos sign new right-back from Premier League

Hearts have completed the signing of right-back Daniel Oyegoke from Brentford for an undisclosed fee.

The England under-20's international has signed a three-year-deal and becomes Steven Naismith's fourth summer signing after James Penrice, Ryan Fulton and Blair Spittal. Yan Dhanda is expected to follow after following the other three in signing pre-contracts from other Scottish clubs.

Oyegoke is described as an athletic, attacking full-back and spent time in the Arsenal academy and has had lower league loans while at the Bees. Last season he played with former Jambo Jamie Walker at Bradford and previously he had a stint with MK Dons.

Naismith told the club website: “It’s another really positive bit of news to get Daniel in as a Hearts player. He’s versatile, has physicality and also a calmness in possession. He’s willing to take the ball under pressure and that’s a big part of the way we want our defenders to play.

"What’s really impressed me is his desire to progress his career. He’s not comfortable just standing still in a safe environment, he wants to forge a career and advance to a higher level, and I expect him to do that with Hearts.”

Hearts have also been linked with Costa Rican right-back Gerald Taylor and were believed to be close to striking a deal for the Saprissa man, so the signing of Oyegoke will raise questions about the future of Nathaniel Atkinson.
