Hibs have given fans a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to play on the hallowed Easter Road pitch.

The Edinburgh side announced today that they will host an inaugural sevens tournament at the club's stadium next month, offering supporters the chance to follow in the footsteps of their heroes of the past and present. The unique round-robin competition will be held on Wednesday May 22 and will consist of teams of ten players facing up to four matches.

A post on the club's official website read: "Join us for the inaugural ‘Easter Road Sevens Tournament’! On Wednesday 22 May, from 9:30am to 1:00pm (kick-off at 10am), Hibs Supporters will have the opportunity to play on the renowned Easter Road pitch.

"Imagine yourself following in the footsteps of players like Pat Stanton, George Best, or Joe Newell as you compete in a Round Robin Tournament right here at Easter Road Stadium!

"Teams consist of up to 10 players, with rolling substitutions, and you will have access to Hibernian’s changing rooms. Each game will last 15 minutes, guaranteeing four matches per team and a total of one hour of play. After the tournament, players can head to our Albion Bar in the west stand to celebrate (or commiserate) their team's performance."

Fans can secure their team's place of a maximum of 10 players for £500 and spots will be granted on a first come, first serve basis.
