McCarthy’s defence continued to put the pressure on Cheese, forcing errors, while their shooting accuracy extended the gap.

Coastal made some changes and their mid-court players worked hard to move the ball to their shooters.

McCarthy’s GD Gilly Woodsford created some crucial opportunities to get the ball back.

Lanni Sellick moved from Coastal’s C to GS and even though it looked like she was carrying an injury she still managed to score a few much-needed goals, although McCarthy held on.

THE WATERLOO 42

JOE NEWTON ELECTRICAL 54

JOE Newton Electrical enjoyed a 54-42 victory over The Waterloo in a high-scoring Division One match.

Waterloo continued with pace and rhythm although a change in Newton’s shooters saw them settle into the game and close the gap with some long shots from GS Mandy Grafton. Great turnovers from Newton enabled their shooters to score and close the gap.

Newton came out strongly with Grafton’s effective and accurate long shots, but Waterloo continued to respond with goals, although pivotal work by Newton’s GA Carragh Watt enabled them to take a one-goal lead.

Newton increased the intensity further with great passes to their now settled shooters, who survived some interceptions to take the win.
