HOT FOOTBALL TRANSFER GOSSIP: Messi, Vardy, Kane, Kalinic, Morrison

Stanley Accrington is back with the morning’s paper chat and it seems Chelsea’s poor run of form this season has led the power brokers at the Bridge to one conclusion; buy all the form players in the Premier League, while Manchester City are chasing Lionel Messi, which is tough as he is very fast.

In the big news of the morning, the Sun are reporting that Lionel Messi's agents have had initial discussions about a deal with Manchester City that would see the 28-year-old Barcelona and Argentina forward join on a weekly wage of £800,000.

This initially looks like pie-in-the-sky nonsense, which is leaked to the press so the magical Argentine can bump up his current contract with the Catalan giants. However with the Guardian, via Cadena Copa, reporting Pep Guardiola has agreed to leave Bayern Munich at the end of the season to take over from Manuel Pellegrini, maybe there is some legs in the Messi rumour.

Addressing their poor form, Chelsea are lining up January moves for Leicester's England striker Jamie Vardy, 28, and Tottenham's Belgium midfielder Mousa Dembele, 28 (Daily Mirror) and a summer move for Dembele's Spurs team-mate Harry Kane, 22, but Jose Mourinho's side will wait until the summer before making a bid for him according to the Daily Mail. Buying Dembele would be a lesson in short-termism given it’s taken three years for Spurs to find a manager to get anything productive out of the mecurial/bone-idle Belgian.

Chelsea are also considering a move for former Blackburn striker Nikola Kalinic in January. The 27-year-old Croatia international has scored 10 goals in nine Serie A matches for Fiorentina this season, which is in stark contrast to his time at Ewood Park where he scored 7 goals in 44 appearances and was laughed at a lot. Who is laughing now eh?

LA Galaxy midfielder Steven Gerrard says he is disappointed his former club Liverpool did not sign 19-year-old England midfielder Dele Alli before Tottenham did according to the Evening Standard in London. Liverpool and 18 other Premier League clubs share in that disappointment Stephen. Don’t worry, maybe there is a new Jay Spearing just ready to burst forth from the Anfield academy.

In other top flight news, Swansea forward Andre Ayew has suggested he could leave for a top Premier League club in January, with Liverpool reported to be interested in the 25-year-old while Bournemouth are planning a £6m move for Crystal Palace striker Dwight Gale, 25, in January to replace the injured Callum Wilson, 23 so say the Mirror.

Elsewhere, Leeds boss Steve Evans says a deal has been provisionally agreed to extend Sunderland midfielder Liam Bridcutt's loan move for the remainder of the season. Lucky Liam we say.
