Hot Football Transfer Gossip: Chelsea ‘to spend £140m this month’, Ronaldo ‘signs new Madrid contract’

The season has already started and the clock towards the transfer window SLAMMING SHUT is ticking, but don’t worry. Relax. Be cool, like Antonio Conte. There’s plenty of time to get your business done. According to the Sunday Express, the Chelsea manager is planning to spend another £140m on three players before the end of the month and he’s, like, totally chilled out about it.

Well, maybe not totally chilled. The paper adds that the Italian has occasionally been “frustrated” in this endeavour, such as when Napoli have insisted that the Blues pay them £50m for their defender Kalidou Koulibaly even though he isn’t worth that amount. You can imagine Conte having a little shout about that, in Italian. But nonetheless, he’s confident he’ll get his man eventually, with the Express claiming the Senegalese centre-back is “determined” to move to Stamford Bridge.

Conte also expects to pay Santos £15m for their midfielder Thiago Maia, who is playing for Brazil at the Olympics, which leaves a minimum of £75m left over for Everton striker Romelu Lukaku. Easy.

Pep Guardiola could probably spend £140m in the next three weeks too if he wanted, but his main concern appears to be ridding himself of Joe Hart. The Sunday Mail (the Scottish one) says the Manchester City manager is targeting Portugal’s Euro 2016-winning goalkeeper as Hart’s replacement after Barcelona refused to sell him Marc-Andre ter Stergen.

Patricio has a release clause of £38.8m, apparently. Sounds quite high, but what do we know?

AS has learned that Cristiano Ronaldo has signed a new contract at Real Madrid because they say his “close friend” Conor McGregor, the UFC champion, let the news slip at a promotional event. Apparently the two men, who share a fondness for showing off their bare, ripped torsos, went on holiday together last month. Close friend, eh?

Crystal Palace keep changing their mind between trying to sign Saido Berahino and Christian Benetke, and today they’re going to try to sign Saido Berahino. The Sun on Sunday says Eagles boss Alan Pardew will make “last-bid attempt” to hijack the “bad boy’s” move from West Brom to Stoke.

Meanwhile, the Baggies are set to end Leicester’s title hopes by signing last season’s best Foxes player Jeff Schlupp for £12m, says Sky Sports.

Elsewhere, Tottenham will spend £3m on 16-year-old Fulham left-back Ryan Sessegnon despite him having played just one first-team game (Sun on Sunday), Arsenal are going even younger by targeting Exeter’s 15-year-old defender Ethan Ampadu (Goal) and Galatasaray are interested in Manchester United midfielder Marouane Fellaini (Mynet). Calm down, United fans. It’s only a rumour. You guys are so excitable.
