HOT FOOTBALL TRANSFER GOSSIP: Ronaldo’s £100m PSG deal sealed with a wink

Cristiano Ronaldo is known for being one of football’s biggest winkers. But if the Real Madrid star winked at you, what would you think? Would you think he was pleased about getting an opponent sent off, or that he was just saying hello, or that he was trying to seduce you into acts of lovemaking, or that he had a baked bean in his eye? Or something else?

The motivation behind Ronaldo’s latest wink has fallen into the something else category, according to the Sun, which has translated the gesture as a sign of his willingness to join Paris Saint-Germain.

Ronaldo winked at PSG chairman Nasser Al Khelaifi following Madrid’s victory against the Ligue 1 champions on Tuesday, which the Sun says he intentionally did “in front of the media to emphasise their close relationship”. As a result of this public winking, the tabloid says PSG are confident of signing Ronaldo for £100m next summer, scuppering the hopes of Manchester United in the process. Cue some frantic winking in Ronaldo’s direction from Ed Woodward in the coming weeks.

Liverpool want to sign Bayer Leverkusen’s 31-year-old striker Stefan Kiessling, says the Express, but it’s not the normal Express it’s some kind of German Express and therefore we can’t understand anything else it says.

We can tell you more about the Reds’ pursuit of Danish starlet Emre Mor, an 18-year-old so-called wonderkid who the Mail says Liverpool will go head-to-head with Manchester United to sign. The paper adds that Mor has won rave reviews for FC Nordsjaelland’s U-19 side, which with the best will in the world doesn’t sound like a very high standard of football.

Tottenham have been linked with Laurent Depoitre so much in recent weeks that we’re at the stage where we’d feel a bit short-changed if they don’t sign him, even if they just send him out on loan and he never plays. The Mail is the latest paper alleging that Spurs scouts will watch the Gent striker in action this week, along with his 20-year-old Nigerian team-mate Moses Simon.

Elsewhere, Monaco are trying to buy Chelsea’s 19-year-old academy prospect Charly Musonda for £10m, claims the Mirror, with Arsenal also interested.

Manchester City have ruled out a January loan move for silky Italian legend Andrea Pirlo, reports the Manchester Evening News.

And sticking with over-the-hill MLS midfielders, the Independent says Steven Gerrard will need to prove himself to Jurgen Klopp in training before Liverpool commit to re-signing him.
