Hot Football Transfer Gossip: West Brom ‘to break transfer record twice’, Man Utd ‘want Fonte and Fabinho, Zouma ‘to leave Chelsea’

Buckle up everyone. It’s West Brom time.

Pogba, Zlatan, Kante, Allen - the Baggies have patiently sat back while all the other teams have been grappling for the world’s biggest football stars all summer. But now, as the clock ticks towards transfer deadline day, Tony Pulis is finally making his move. And it’s going to be absolutely spectacular.

OK, not spectacular, but he is reportedly going to sign a couple of players for pretty big money. In West Brom terms, anyway.

The first one is Ignacio Camacho, the 26-year-old Malaga midfielder who the Star says will complete his £15.3m move to the Hawthorns “in the next few hours”.

The other is Tottenham winger Nacer Chadli, who the Telegraph says is set for a £13m “club record move” to the Black Country.

The only question is whether Chadli can sign in time to be a record signing in the “few hours” before the Camacho deal usurps him. That would be something nice to tell his grandchildren.

The Mirror says Pulis is targeting five signings in total, with Southampton striker Jay Rodriguez, Brighton defender Lewis Dunk and Charlton forward Ademola Lookman also on his radar.

The Star adds that the Baggies are one of four clubs - the others being Stoke, Hull and Bournemouth - chasing “Arsenal ace” Calum Chambers, who is so much of an “ace” that he can’t get into the Gunners side even when have hardly any defenders.

Moving on to some of the smaller teams, the Daily Record claims that Manchester United want to sign two more defenders before the window closes - specifically Southampton’s Jose Fonte and Monaco’s Fabinho.

However, this would apparently mean they have to flog some people first, with Jose Mourinho keen to offload Matteo Darmian, Marcos Rojo and/or Phil Jones.

Chelsea are the latest team to make an “audacious attempt” to sign Real Madrid’s James Rodriguez on loan, but the Spaniards have rejected the offer because they want to sell him permanently for £60m (Mirror).

In more surprising Blues news, the Mail says injured centre-back Kurt Zouma is a target for Bundesliga side Schalke, who want to take the Frenchman on a season-long loan in a deal that could have been negotiated by Gary Cahill himself.

Elsewhere, Crystal Palace want Everton’s James McCarthy but are not prepared to pay the £20m asking price (Mirror), Sunderland face competition from Valencia for £7m-rated Sevilla midfielder Vicente Iborra (Sunderland Echo) and former Black Cats striker Asamoah Gyan is set for loan move to Reading from Chinese side Shanghai SIPG, where he currently earns £227,000 a week (Get Reading). Which means that either the Chinese will continue to pay him, the Royals are having a massive splurge or Gyan himself has decided that he is no longer interested in money and would just like to live a simple life in Reading. Yeah, probably not that,
