Ian McCall Pulled, UFC 208 Bout Canceled
Ian McCall just can't catch a break. His UFC 208 bout with Jarred Brooks was canceled Saturday morning.
While McCall‘s original UFC 208 opponent, Neil Seery, withdrew from the fight due to a death in his family, undefeated newcomer Brooks quickly agreed to save the day.
Now it is McCall that derailed his latest attempt to return to the Octagon.
“Flyweight contender Ian McCall has been removed from tonight’s UFC 208 bout against Jarred Brooks (12-0) due to illness,” read a UFC statement released on Saturday. “McCall was transported to a local hospital with gastrointestinal issues and was pulled from the card on the doctor’s recommendation.”

McCall (13-5-1) has long been one of the top flyweights in the world, but hasn’t had a fight since losing to John Lineker in a catchweight bout at UFC 183 in January of 2015. It hasn’t been for a lack of trying.
McCall has had several bouts scheduled, but has had no less than four fights fall apart due to injury, illness, or missed weight. UFC 208 was the second time that a bout with Serry has imploded, and the second time that McCall was pulled at the last minute due to illness.
A heavyweight bout between Marcin Tybura and Justin Willis was scrapped on Friday, when Willis had difficulties with his weight cut and was removed from the fight.
