Germany kicked off its home European Championship in style by beating a sorry Scotland side 5-1 on Friday evening. It took just 10 minutes for Julian Nagelsmann’s side to take the lead and they never looked back from there.

Liverpool defender Andy Robertson captained the Scots but there was nothing he could do to stem the German tide. The 30-year-old admitted after the match that his side had not been aggressive enough, comments to which Roy Keane took exception.

One of several stars for Germany was Jamal Musiala, the Bayern Munich attacker who has been linked with a move to Anfield. Keane’s fellow pundits Ian Wright and Graeme Souness were effusive in their praise of the 21-year-old, who scored the second goal of the game.

Wright started by comparing the youngster to a fantastic Brazilian whom Liverpool fans will remember from a pair of Champions League finals. “There's a resemblance to Kaka in how upright he is,” he said (via Daily Mail). “His feet for the size he is are unbelievable. Once he got on it, he's just attacking space with his close control.”

Musiala provided ample evidence of this skill for his goal. He received the ball in a tight space in the box, shifted it away from a defender before taking a touch and lashing a fierce drive into the roof of the net.

Former Reds player and manager Souness was as equally impressed as Wright. “His balance is unbelievable. He stops and starts - he seems to be moving (again) before he's already stopped!” he said, adding: “He's a special talent. He's like a slalom skier and he's only 21. You would pay to watch him.”

Musiala was awarded the Player of the Match honor and was given an ovation when substituted in the 74th minute for Thomas Müller. “I had the best feeling ever, we wanted to start well and I'm happy we scored so many goals so now we can go into the next games with lots of confidence,” he said after full time.

“I think to win that comfortably was a good sign and we can take that confidence into the next game,” Musiala continued. “For me personally, I was quite happy but there's still things that we can do better. We're not going to let it get to our heads too much and we're going to go into the next game with the same mentality.”

Liverpool.com says: It was a very impressive performance from the Bayern youngster. With only two years remaining on his contract, the time might be right for him to make a move. Liverpool supporters would be delighted if Anfield proves to be his next home.
