Former England skipper Michael Vaughan has shared his thoughts on Virat Kohli’s decision to quit T20I captaincy. The Indian skipper in a statement said that he will give up on T20I captaincy after the T20 World Cup. In the process, he also said that this will help him focus more on his batting and lead his team well in the other two formats. Rohit Sharma is the likely contender to replace Kohli as the skipper of the T20I side.

Meanwhile, Michael Vaughan has said that it was a very unselfish decision from Virat Kohli and said that it will help him to ease a little bit of pressure.

“Well Done… that’s a very unselfish decision and also one which will give you some nice space to hopefully relax a little away from all the pressures,” Vaughan commented on Kohli’s Instagram post.

Virat Kohli said that he took this decision after speaking to Ravi Shastri and Rohit Sharma, his close companions in the Indian cricket team.

Of course, arriving at this decision took a lot of time. After a lot of contemplation and discussions with my close people, Ravi bhai and also Rohit, who have been an essential part of the leadership group, I’ve decided to step down as the T20 captain after this T20 World Cup in UAE and Oman in October” Kohli said on His Instagram post.

India begin their T20 World Cup campaign against Pakistan on October 24. Kohli will have the added pressure of maintaining India’s consistent winning record against Pakistan in ICC tournaments.
