South Africa have left out former captain Faf du Plessis as they announced their 15-member squad for the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup, slated to take place between October 17 and November 14 in the UAE and Oman.

Incidentally, Faf du Plessis, who was the skipper of South Africa in the 2019 World Cup, hasn’t played a white-ball international since December last year. Moreover, the squad, led by Temba Bavuma, did not feature all-rounder Chris Morris and spinner Imran Tahir, while George Linde, Andile Phehlukwayo, and Lizaad Williams were named as reserve players.

“It has been a busy last few months for the Proteas, and we have had enough time to assess our options and we are pleased with the outcome,” he added.
