'I'm buzzing' - Former Town star signs for new club after being transfer listed

Former Ipswich Town academy graduate Jack Lankester has joined League Two side Crewe Alexandra from Cambridge United for an undisclosed fee.

The 24-year-old was put on the transfer list by Garry Monk's side this summer, but has now penned a three-year deal with the Railwaymen.

Lankester moved to the Abbey Stadium from Ipswich in the summer of 2021, where he went on to make over 100 appearances for the U's, scoring eight goals during his three seasons.

He now joins Lee Bell's side, who were beaten 2-0 by Crawley Town in the League Two play-off final at Wembley last saeson, after finishing sixth in the fourth tier.

 

 

On joining Crewe, he said: "I'm very delighted, it's been going on a few weeks now but I'm buzzing to get it over the line and look forward to the season.

"I'm excited to be here, especially knowing the style of play and manager. I know what they did las year and hopefully I can play a big part in the upcoming season.

Bury St Edmunds born Lankester progressed through the Blues' academy set-up, playing 30 games and scoring three goals during his spell at Portman Road.
