Dominik Szoboszlai has offered his appreciation to former Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp.

Klopp brought Szoboszlai to Anfield last summer after the Reds agreed a £60 million deal with RB Leipzig. The Hungary international made 45 appearances for Liverpool in his debut season on Merseyside, scoring seven goals from midfield.

This summer will see Szoboszlai star for Hungary at Euro 2024. The Liverpool midfielder will wear the captain's armband for his country with group fixtures against Scotland, Switzerland and hosts Germany.

Klopp has now officially left his role as Liverpool manager after nine years in the Anfield dugout. He will be replaced by Arne Slot who is now the Reds' new head coach and will be busy preparing for the new Premier League campaign.

Weeks after Klopp's final match as Liverpool manager, Szoboszlai has now sent a message to the former Reds boss. Szoboszlai has offered his appreciation to Klopp and explained what he learned from his now-former manager.

“It was an honour to train and play under him,” Szoboszlai told German news outlet Sport Bild. “He is a very good coach and an even better person. I am very grateful to him for what I learned from him on and off the field.

“Not a single player can say anything bad about him because he only ever saw the player and did everything for the team.”

After impressing during his early career at Anfield, Szoboszlai endured a difficult second half of the campaign. The 23-year-old started just one of the final six Premier League fixtures of the season and will be determined to impress Slot and the new Reds backroom staff during pre-season which begins next month.
