The stage is set. India will be facing five-time champions Australia at their home turf on Sunday in the final match of the 2023 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup One Day International (ODI).

While tournament hosts India won all ten of their matches and are eyeing a World Cup win since their triumph on home ground in 2011, Australia had a rocky start with defeats from India and South Africa sending them to the last place on the table. However, they soon bounced back winning their remaining 7 matches and qualifying with 14 points.

India beat New Zealand in an exciting semi-final in Mumbai on Nov. 15 while Australia beat South Africa in a tense match in Kolkata on Nov. 16.

India, led by cricket legend MS Dhoni, had won the last World Cup it had hosted on its home turf in 2011 after a gap of 28 years. Australia, meanwhile, has the maximum number of wins, taking the cup home in 1987, 1999, 2003, 2007 and 2015.
