While the BCCI and the ECB were in talks during Thursday night about the proceeding in Manchester, the venue for the fifth Test between India and England, it has now come to light that the Indian team received confusing messages on their team WhatsApp group which had left them befuddled.

The last Test of the series, which was scheduled to start on Friday, was called off hours before the scheduled start because the Indian team were, as ECB said, “unable to field a team”. because of covid-19 scare in their camp following the positive result of physio Yogesh Parmar. The players were concerned and had apprehensions about taking the field.

Now, according to ESPNcricinfo, Virat Kohli’s men received “some confusing and contradictory messages” on the team’s WhatsApp chat few hours before the official toss time. The players were first told to stay inside their rooms with a confirmation that the game was called off before another message popped which said they can go out to the restaurant for breakfast.
