'It's interesting for the neutrals, not so interesting if you're in it' - Lynn boss

Adam Lakeland believes his King’s Lynn Town team have proven they are good enough to stay in the National Leage North.

Lynn’s long unbeaten run of 11 games looked to have taken them to within an inch of safety, but one point from their last two games has seen them dragged back into a logjam at the bottom which sees the seven relegation candidates separated by just three points.

The Linnets are 16th, with a better goal difference than most of their rivals and having a game in hand on three of them.

Lynn’s survival battle continues on Tuesday night when they host fourth placed Chorley – at the same time as Peterborough Sports (17th) host Farsley Celtic (21st) and Rushall Olympic (20th) are at home to already relegated Bishops Stortford.

After Chorley’s visit, Lynn prepare for another home game at the weekend – against Peterborough Sports.

“It’s going to be an interesting couple of weeks,” Lakeland told BBC Radio Norfolk. “We’ve just got to keep working hard – nothing else really to say.

“There’s massive pressure on everybody. It's interesting for the neutrals, not so interesting if you're in it, but it is what it is, we've got to just keep working out.

“It just shows how far we've come and how we've had to work to be in the position that we're in and we're still right in it, even after such a great run.

“We have just got to take care of ourselves. Obviously all the clubs will be saying the same. The game in hand, yes, it gives you an opportunity, but there's no guarantees you win it. But we've got to fight tooth and nail to make sure we get something out of the other remaining three games.”

Lakeland believes his squad is handling the current difficulties well.

“We would like to not be in this situation now, but we are,” he said. “We've had a lot of games with a lot of pressure on us in the last three months and we've only lost the one game, a game we should never have lost, but I think the players have handled the pressure incredibly well, in the bed. A lot of the teams around is we've played and beaten and that gives me confidence that we can keep picking up points, certainly in the next two home games.

“We need the supporters behind those, more than ever, needs them to be loud and get behind the players at home and try and get us over the line.”
