Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) leg spinner Kuldeep Yadav has stated that the team is feeling good following the break after the postponement of the IPL 2021 season. He mentioned that the team wasn’t performing well so the break worked out in their favor.

KKR has struggled to put together a team performance in the season so far. They have relied on individual heroics, specifically from their foreign players, to achieve the two wins they have currently out of seven. Luckily for them, the league was postponed so they got a chance to reset.

The second leg of the tournament will begin on September 19 and the team has gathered in Mumbai ahead of their departure to the UAE. Speaking on the atmosphere in the team, Kuldeep revealed that the team is excited and raring to go.

Break is something that is good for a team, especially (for us) because we didn’t have momentum in the first half. This is a good opportunity. I really feel that the boys are all pumped up. Hopefully, in the coming seasons, we can have this year as a reference,” he said.

KKR bring in Tim Southee in place of unavailable Pat Cummins

Ahead of the departure, Pat Cummins had made himself available for the season. He revealed that his wife is pregnant and the baby is due in the middle of the tournament. As a result, KKR roped in New Zealand’s Tim Southee as a replacement, and coach Brendon McCullum was pleased with the acquisition.

We are delighted to have Southee in our ranks. He is a proven match-winner and a welcome addition to the already strong pace attack of KKR. With Cummins being unavailable, we wanted to add experience and leadership to our bowling group, and Southee is the ideal man for the job,” McCullum claimed.

KKR will hope to get their act together when they meet high-flying Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the first match after the resumption.
