MS Dhoni is likely to continue as the Chennai Super Kings’ skipper in the Indian Premier League 2022 season. The Chennai Super Kings won the 2021 title, by defeating the Kolkata Knight Riders on Friday, October 16.

During the post-match presentation ceremony, MS Dhoni gave a cheeky response to Harsha Bhogle on his future in the Indian Premier League. Bhogle asked the wicket-keeper batter about his future with the franchise. Dhoni said:

“Well it’s not about me playing for CSK, it’s about what is best for CSK. The core group that can carry the team for 10 years. Now we need to see what is best.”

Praising MS Dhoni’s legacy in the league, Harsha Bhogle said, “You can be proud of the legacy you have left behind”, to which Dhoni cheekily responded, “Still I haven’t left behind….”

The Chennai Super Kings have won four Indian Premier League championships and two Champions League titles under MS Dhoni. He is the skipper with the most wins in the Indian Premier League and has a win percentage of 59.60.

I would love to thank the fans: Mahendra Singh Dhoni

Mahendra Singh Dhoni pointed out that the title win is a result of a team effort. He added that the in-form individuals made the most of their purple patch, with other players chipping in. Dhoni said:

“We shuffled a few players, we used them in different ways. Important was to take responsibility. I felt we had match-winners game after game. People who were in form ensured they were scoring throughout the tournament and others were chipping in.”

Before signing off, Mahendra Singh Dhoni thanked the fans of the Chennai Super Kings franchise, who backed them through thick and thin.

“I would love to thank the fans. We are in Dubai now. Even when we played in South Africa, we always got a good amount of support. Thanks to all of them. If feels like Chepauk, Chennai. Hopefully, we will come back to play the Chennai fans next year,” said MS Dhoni.
