Jacksonville softball, baseball teams to hit the road Tuesday

Mar. 18—Softball and baseball teams from Jacksonville High School will be back at work Tuesday when the Fightin' Maidens continue District 18-4A play by visiting Rusk (6 p.m. first pitch) and the Indians play their last non-conference game by traveling to Chapel Hill (7 p.m. start).

The Maiden nine will bring a 14-8, 1-0 record into the fray, having won its district opener, 11-8, over Hudson late last week.

Rusk is off to a solid start this season with the Lady Eagles owning a 14-5-1, 1-0 record. The Lady Eagles outscored Madisonville, 17-8, in a wild district lid lifter Friday in Rusk.

Rusk is averaging 8.3 runs a game thus far while the Maidens are hanging six runs a night on the scoreboard.

Jacksonville, Rusk and Bullard are all 1-0 in league play. Bullard has an open date Tuesday.

Tribe Baseball (4-8-1) last played on March 9 when state-ranked Liberty Eylau breezed past the Indians, 11-0, on the final day of the Hallsville Tournament.

Chapel Hill (7-10-1) also lost its last outing. Rusk beat the Bulldogs, 8-3 on March 11.

Jacksonville will open its district campaign by hosting No. 3-ranked Bullard at 7 p.m. Friday.
