The Jacksonville State Gamecocks will face the Florida International University Panthers in a Week 9 match-up.

Jacksonville State is coming off an impressive 20-17 victory over Western Kentucky in Week 8. This is the Gamecocks' first season in the FBS, and they have shown that they belong with an overall record of 6-2, including 4-1 in Conference USA.

Florida International University had a great victory in Week 8, defeating Sam Houston 33-27 on the road. The Panthers' quarterback, Keyone Jenkins, made a 25-yard touchdown pass to Kris Mitchell in the second overtime to secure the win against the Bearkats. Jenkins completed 26 of 38 passes for 190 yards. Currently, the Panthers hold a 4-4 overall record and 1-4 in Conference USA.

Despite the Panthers impressive Week 8 victory, the Gamecocks are significant favorites going into Week 9 against FIU.
