James Martin playfully declared a top Brummie chef 'won't be back on Saturday Morning' following a mishap on the ITV show. The TV chef humorously suggested Glynn Purnell might not return to his show after the restaurateur lost various pieces of cutlery during his first ever appearance cooking on the programme.

The celebrity chef, from Solihull, was cooking up delights like tandoori cod and lamb rump on ITV's James Martin's Saturday Morning this weekend. The 49-year-old, whose Cornwall Street restaurant in Birmingham has a Michelin Star, was joined by fellow chefs Asma Khan and Kenny Atkinson and Loose Women panelist Linda Robson on the show.

As he began showing viewers how to make a surf and turf dish, the chef was baffled as he couldn't find any spoons to taste it. Host James Martin joined in the search with no luck.

Glynn, who has appeared on My Kitchen Rules and was a judge on Come Dine With Me - Champion of Champions, then realised there was a spoon being 'cooked' in the sauce. He joked: "I've lost a spoon in there chef but I'm sure we'll dig it out eventually...

"That one's gone in there again chef, want to grab that one out for me." James burst into laughter and jokingly questioned whether Glynn would make another appearance on Saturday Morning.

"This is Glynn Purnell - this is the first and the last time you'll see him," James quipped. He quickly clarified that he was 'only joking' before tucking into the dish with a fork.

Fans loved Glynn's appearance on the show. One fan posted on X, previously Twitter: "Don't normally watch morning cookery shows but was drooling over the ribs with mussels @JamesMartin Saturday Kitchen served up by Glynn Purnell today!"

Another commented: "Enjoyed watching @yummy_brummie on James Martin's Saturday Morning @jamesmartinchef. The two of you were hilarious and informative in equal measure." "Great seeing @yummie_brummie," a third chimed in.
