JC men finish strong but can't overcome early deficit, fall to Seahawks

Feb. 29—PORT ARTHUR — Jacksonville College played well in the second half, but the visiting Jaguars were unable to catch up to Lamar State-Port Arthur, and as a result dropped an 82-71 decision to the Seahawks Wednesday night.

Lamar State (13-14, 6-12) raced out to take a 50-27 lead at halftime, which turned out to be too big of hurdle for the Jags (8-20, 2-15) to climb.

Ronald Davis finished with 18 points for the Jags, followed by Anthony Riggans (16 points, 6 rebounds, 6 assists, 5 steals) and Jared Duplechain (11 points).

Massimo Moretti pulled down 16 rebounds to compliment his nine points.

JC is scheduled to play its final home game of the season at 4 p.m. Saturday when Blinn College makes its annual trip to Jacksonville.
