Bayer Leverkusen defender Jeremie Frimpong has already dropped a hint surrounding a potential move to Liverpool amid speculation over his future.

Frimpong scored 14 goals and provided 12 assists in 47 appearances across all competitions for Leverkusen during the 2023/24 season. He helped them win the Bundesliga title for the first time in their history, having impressed on the right-side of the back four.

For now, his focus is firmly on Euro 2024 with the Netherlands but there is still uncertainty over his future with Manchester United and Liverpool among those interested in his services. SportBILD claim that the Reds are still an admirer of Frimpong, who is valued at around £42million.

Frimpong joined Manchester City at the age of nine before moving to Celtic in September 2019. Later that month, he made his professional debut against Partick Thistle. He ended up winning the Treble with the Hoops in his first season, making 21 appearances and scoring one goal.

He was a regular in the side during the following season before moving to Leverkusen in January 2021. He has played 142 times for Leverkusen but could make a return to the Premier League this summer. Frimpong was asked about a potential move to the Reds in February, when Alonso was being linked with replacing Jurgen Klopp.

Speaking to Ziggo Sport, he said: "Liverpool is a great club with history. That would be great. Who knows what the future will bring."

Alonso opted to remain with Leverkusen to continue his coaching career but it is unclear whether Frimpong will do the same and stay at the club. There is expected to be more than just Liverpool and United interested in his services, however, with Barcelona also keen on a move.
