Jimmy Bullard has embarrassed himself on television by getting a simple football question wrong.

The former Fulham and Hull City midfielder is a popular personality on television, appearing regularly on Soccer AM, as well as on quiz shows.

And over the weekend he was a guest on the celebrity version of Tipping Point, hosted by Ben Shepherd.

While partnered up with comedienne Katherine Ryan, they were asked which country won Euro 2016 and the 2017 version of Eurovision.

Portugal were the surprise winners of the 2016 tournament when Eder netted a late extra-time winner against hosts France, not that Bullard can remember.

Bullard admitted he was “not 100%” sure straight away, before going with Italy, who had been dumped out of the tournament at the quarter final stage by Germany.

When Shepherd revealed he was wrong and told Bullard it was Portugal, the 39-year-old couldn’t hide his disbelief that he had forgotten.

“Course it bloody was,” he exclaimed. “I go to Portugal every year!”
