Jocelyn Jones-Lybarger Steps in for Michelle Waterson at UFC 194

With Michelle “Karate Hottie” Waterson out of her planned UFC 194 bout opposite Tecia Torres due to injury, Jocelyn Jones-Lybarger has agreed to take her place. UFC officials announced the switch on Friday.

Waterson vs. Torres was set to be one of the key preliminary bouts on the UFC 194: Aldo vs. McGregor fight card, but with Waterson out, Jones-Lybarger seized the opportunity to make her Octagon debut against the undefeated, No. 5-ranked UFC strawweight.

“I think it’s going to be a great fight and a stand-up battle for sure,” Jones-Lybarger told UFC.com on Friday. “I’m excited to make my UFC debut against somebody like her. I have a lot of respect for her in and out of the cage.”

Jones-Lybarger steps into the Octagon with a 6-1 record and currently riding a four-fight winning streak. She recently defeated former Bellator champion Zoila Frausto at RFA 31 to earn a shot in the UFC.

Torres (6-0) was a cast member on the historic twentieth season of The Ultimate Fighter. The American Top Team-trained athlete is 2-0 inside the Octagon with wins over Angela Magana and Angela Hill.

Her bout with Waterson would have put the winner in a great position to lay claim at a shot against UFC strawweight champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk.

Headlining the UFC 194 pay-per-view event is the highly anticipated featherweight title unification bout between champion Jose Aldo and interim titleholder Conor McGregor. Middleweight champion Chris Weidman puts his title on the line against top contender Luke Rockhold in the fight card’s co-main event.

UFC 194 takes place on Dec. 12 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
