Chelsea legend John Terry has told the Tottenham squad they must be willing to make “sacrifices” under Antonio Conte.

Terry played under Conte towards the end of his time at Chelsea and says he was in the best shape of his career then.

Conte is now back working in London after he was appointed by Tottenham, who moved for the Italian after sacking Nuno Espirito Santo.

Conte is expected to spend the current international break working on the players’ fitness and there are likely to be plenty of double sessions.

Terry, however, has told the Spurs players that it will be worth it if they are prepared to make the sacrifices needed to succeed under Conte.

“Under Antonio it was the fittest I have ever been,” Terry wrote on Twitter, when replying to an article about Conte’s first week at Spurs posted by Last Word On Spurs.

“Training was tough and the sacrifices are a must.”
