Two of Johnny Depp's high-profile ex-partners have defended the actor over "false" claims of domestic violence, describing him as "loving, respectful and generous" .

Witnesses statements from Winona Ryder and Vanessa Paradis, which rejected the "outrageous" allegations, were released by the High Court as part of the Hollywood star's libel battle against The Sun.

It came as the actor's bodyguard said Mr Depp was subjected to a “recurring cycle” of verbal and physical abuse by ex-wife Amber Heard.

The Hollywood star, 57, is suing the tabloid’s publisher News Group Newspapers (NGN) and its executive editor Dan Wootton over an April 2018 article which alleged he was violent towards the 34-year-old during their tumultuous relationship.
