Jose Cordoba Rangers transfer progress as medical 'scheduled' ahead of Panama Copa America camp

Jose Cordoba is set to be put through his Rangers medical during the next 48 hours, according to a report in Bulgaria.

Philippe Clement hopes to make the Panama international centre-back his second summer signing after securing Brazilian left-back Jefte from Fluminense on Friday. A deal to bring Cordoba to Glasgow from Levski Sofia is thought to have been close for some time and looks to still be in the works.

it did seem like Norwich City were going to rival the Ibrox men for the 22-year-old's signature but it's believed that while there was initial interest there, it went no further. And Bulgarian outlet Top Sport are now claiming Cordoba will undergo a Gers medical either today or tomorrow. If he makes it through successfully, that would pave the way for them to announce their second signing.

The defender is due to join up with the Panama squad for their Copa America training camp in Spain and the report adds the deal will need to be completed before then. It's understood Rangers will pay £2million up front with a possible £1.2m in add-ons if certain criteria are met.

Clement is expected to press on with further transfer moves over the summer and Football Scotland outlined what his priorities in the market are. The Belgian is looking to bring in players with sell-on value and is looking in a number of positions, detailed in our report.

John Lundstram, Kemar Roofe, Borna Barisic, Ryan Jack and Leon Balogun are all out of contract and expected to leave while there will be other departures.
