It’s a big weekend for Leeds in London as Josh Warrington fights Mexican Mauricio Lara at The SSE Arena, Wembley tonight before his beloved football team clash with Arsenal tomorrow.

Warrington is returning to the ring for the first time in 15 months, having not fought since his emphatic second-round stoppage of Sofiane Takoucht back in October 2019.

That win saw ‘The Leeds Warrior’ successfully defend his IBF featherweight title for the third time, though he has since relinquished the belt after the governing body declined to sanction a unification showdown with WBA champion Xu Can of China.

Despite potential ring rust, the undefeated Warrington is the heavy favourite to move to 31-0 as a professional against underdog Lara as he looks to set up huge title fights with the likes of Can, WBC title-holder Gary Russell Jr or Lara’s compatriot, WBO champion Emanuel Navarrete.
