Jumpers kick off season with tight win over Henry Clay

Mar. 14—The Somerset Briar Jumpers kicked off their season on Wednesday night after a delay due to the boys' basketball team making it to the 12th Region finals. Welcoming in a tough Henry Clay squad, Somerset duked it out against the Blue Devils and only allowed one run during the ball game due to a sacrifice fly, with Somerset prevailing 2-1 in the contest.

Both Carson Ryan and Blake Abbott had multi-hit games in the win, with Ryan and Raygan New each having an RBI apiece. Caynon Sizemore had a double in the game as well. Cayden Cimala got the start and earned the victory, going four innings while allowing just one hit with a walk and six strikeouts. Luke Poynter went three innings for the save, allowing two hits with one earned run while throwing three strikeouts and three walks.

Somerset begins the season 1-0 and will be back in action on Thursday against East Jessamine before traveling across town to Somerset Christian to take on the Cougars in the 12th Region All "A" Classic
