Jurgen Klopp has revealed that he actually broke one of the trophies he won as Liverpool manager during the celebrations.

The German oversaw his last match in charge of the Reds on Sunday after nine years at Anfield as his side finished the season with a 2-0 victory over Wolves. During his reign, Klopp would win eight trophies as he most memorably led Liverpool to their first ever Premier League title and sixth European Cup.

He was also in charge when the Reds were crowned champions of the world for the first time in the club’s history, as Roberto Firmino’s extra-time winner clinched a 1-0 victory over Flamengo.

And the departing Liverpool manager has now admitted for the first time that he actually cracked the FIFA Club World Cup trophy during the celebrations, though he revealed he got away with it without anyone knowing he was responsible.

“Little side story, this trophy, I cracked during the celebrations,” he told his backroom team, pointing to a picture of the FIFA Club World Cup celebrations when watching a video montage of their time together for the club's 'The Last Debrief’ feature video.

“I think I had it like that, and crack. ‘Oh…’ - whistles - and I gave it to somebody else. I don’t think I ever told that to anybody.

“Now I see it (a staff picture with the trophy) and yeah, that was me. Sorry, yeah. You have to win it to break it!”
