Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp expects striker Roberto Firmino to be fit to face Barcelona in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final on Wednesday.

The Brazilian missed Friday's 5-0 mauling of Huddersfield with a muscle injury, but Klopp thinks the forward will be fit in time for the last four clash.

The German told BBC’s Match of the Day: "Do not believe 3% of what is on social media. I had no argument with Mo Salah after the Chelsea game of all games, and Roberto Firmino is not out for the rest of the season. After training he felt it a little bit and this morning he still felt it. It's a small tear but it's Bobby so I would say it is likely he is fit for Barcelona because he is a machine. It's good we showed we can play without him."

Liverpool brushed past Huddersfield to move back to the top of the Premier League table, and Klopp singled out Mohamed Salah for praise as the Egyptian marked his 100th appearance for the club with a brace against the Terriers. In the process Salah took the record for the most goals scored (69) by a Liverpool player in his first 100 games for the club.

Klopp explained, "He looked like he wanted to break that record tonight because after the second goal it was like 'me against the rest of the world It is incredible and it is such an important season for him after a flying campaign where every shot was a goal last season.

"He is being really assessed by people to see if it was a one hit and keeping that level is a bigger achievement than scoring 40 goals last season. He made a big step this season. Thankfully all of the others are doing that as well and that is why we are in the situation we are in."

Liverpool face Newcastle and Wolves in their remaining two fixtures, while Manchester will likely need to beat Burnley, Leicester and Brighton in their quest to pip the Reds to the Premier League crown.
