Liverpool is reportedly looking to activate Hoffenheim striker Maximilian Beier's release clause with Arne Slot potentially following advice from Jurgen Klopp.

Sport Bild has reported that the Reds are interested in signing the striker, who has a clause in his contract meaning he can leave for just $32 million - which many believe to be significantly lower than his market value. Beier had a breakout season in 2023/24, scoring 16 goals in 33 games at just the age of just 21 while reminding many of former Hoffenheim and Liverpool attacker Roberto Firmino.

Like Firmino, Beier is a versatile forward who links up play while dropping deep - but also possesses the speed that the Brazilian never had, with the young German being one of the quicker attackers in European soccer.

Slot officially took over from Jurgen Klopp earlier this month, with him already working closely with Liverpool's decision-makers in the transfer market in CEO Michael Edwards and director of football Richard Hughes in looking at their options.

Beier is a name who has continuously been linked over the past few weeks, with Slot potentially taking notes from Klopp's successful reign as boss. When asked how to build a successful team, Klopp reportedly told his staff at a recent private Q&A before leaving: "Build it around Bobby Firmino".

While Firmino was never the main man at Liverpool, he was also seen as the player who had made it easier for the likes of Mohamed Salah, Darwin Nunez, Luis Diaz and Diogo Jota - while being the man in the middle to drop deep, doing the defensive work while playing expert passes to begin attacks.

And while Slot is not exactly going to sign a Firmino on the wrong side of his 30's, he could bring in a player of a similar profile in Beier. The 21-year-old has played in the 'false 9' role that Firmino perfected during his time at Anfield, doing so while ranking highly across progressive passing metrics.

Beier also has the capabilities of playing from either flank, looking to be a perfect fit for Slot's 4-2-3-1 system.

The attacker has made Germany's EURO 2024 squad, where he could star with the nation who are among the favorites to win the tournament.

Should Liverpool indeed be interested in signing him, they might have to do so soon, with the likes of Manchester United and Nottingham Forest said to be interested.
